A Dyson that loses runtime or will not charge may need battery assessment, but those symptoms do not prove that the battery is the only fault. Before ordering a replacement, identify the exact machine, use the correct charger and follow the manufacturer’s troubleshooting guidance.

Write down what changed

Note the selected power mode, attachment, charging lights or screen message and when the machine stops. Runtime in a high-power mode is not directly comparable with normal use in a lower-power mode. Explain any drop, liquid exposure or previous repair.

Use the owner troubleshooting steps for your exact model. Stop use and charging if the battery is visibly damaged or there is electrical damage; do not open the pack or keep testing a potentially unsafe machine.

Check the fitting, not just the model name

Dyson’s parts catalogue distinguishes V11 SV14 screw-in batteries from V11 SV15, SV17 and SV28 click-in batteries. A part advertised only as fitting a V11 may need further checking.

Find the serial number and confirm the replacement part number, charger compatibility and fitting instructions with the manufacturer or supplier. Do not modify connections or convert battery fittings. Follow only the replacement procedure for the exact compatible assembly; seek help if you are unsure.

Understand what a quote includes

A service booking price is not a universal battery replacement price. Ask which battery is proposed, whether it is a genuine manufacturer part or another compatible part, what warranty applies and whether fitting, diagnosis and transport are included.

Confirm current stock and turnaround for the specific job. Do not assume Dusti holds batteries for every model or can complete every replacement within one to three days.

Is the replacement worth it?

Compare the complete proposal with the condition of the rest of the machine. If the head, bin or electrical components also need work, include those costs. Our repair-versus-replacement checklist helps with this comparison.

Charging guidance varies by model

Follow the compatible charger and owner instructions, rather than a blanket rule about unplugging after every charge. Dyson’s V11 owner guide says its battery is designed to remain on charge. This does not establish instructions for every other model.

Ask about a repair in Melbourne

Dusti is an independent repair business. The service booking is A$95; optional A$30 Melbourne pickup and return within the service area makes A$125 combined. Parts and fault-specific work may cost extra. Confirm your model, coverage, complete cost, warranty and turnaround before booking.
