If a café’s vacuum loses pickup or stops unexpectedly, first check whether the machine and attachment are suitable for the task. Stop using it for unsafe symptoms and describe the fault before arranging a repair. A repair enquiry should include your operating needs, not just the brand name.

Keep dry vacuuming separate from spill cleanup

Do not use an ordinary dry vacuum for liquid coffee or other wet spills. Follow the machine’s instructions for permitted materials and use suitable spill-cleaning equipment. Used coffee grounds may still contain moisture, so do not treat them automatically as dry floor debris.

Our coffee spill guide explains the distinction between dry grounds, wet material and liquid exposure. If a dry vacuum has taken in liquid, stop use and charging and seek advice before testing it again.

Check the equipment’s intended use

A domestic vacuum is not automatically appropriate for every hospitality cleaning task. Read the exact model’s intended-use and guarantee conditions and confirm suitability with the manufacturer if uncertain. A café setting can involve different debris, surfaces and workloads from ordinary household cleaning.

Do not assume that a successful repair changes those limitations. If your cleaning task exceeds the equipment’s intended use, compare an appropriate replacement rather than repeatedly applying the same unsuitable machine.

Describe the symptom clearly

  • Is pickup weak, or does the motor fail to run?
  • Does the cleaner head stop while the vacuum still runs?
  • Does the issue appear on one surface or attachment?
  • Are there warning messages, unusual noise or charging problems?
  • Has there been liquid exposure, a fall or visible damage?

Record what changed and any checks already completed. Do not run a machine with a burning smell, damaged battery or electrical damage just to demonstrate the fault. Use the owner manual for permitted checks rather than opening motor or battery housings.

Plan for downtime before collection

Explain your opening hours, collection access and the point of contact. Confirm whether your address is covered and agree handover arrangements. Ask about the current expected assessment and repair timing for your machine, including any parts availability.

Keep an appropriate backup cleaning method while the vacuum is away. A request for urgent work does not establish same-day repair, a loan machine or a guaranteed return time. Those arrangements must be explicitly confirmed if offered.

Ask for the complete proposal

Confirm the diagnosed fault, proposed parts and labour, total cost and warranty before deciding to proceed. Ask what costs apply if repair is not suitable or you choose not to continue. Compare the cost and expected usefulness with equipment that fits your business needs.

Ask Dusti about your vacuum

Dusti is an independent vacuum repair business. The service booking is A$95, with optional A$30 Melbourne pickup and return within the service area (A$125 combined). Parts and fault-specific repair work may cost extra. Confirm support for your exact model, coverage and the proposed work before booking.

View service options, check pickup coverage or contact Dusti. If replacement makes more sense, check current refurbished stock and the individual listing’s condition, accessories and warranty.
