Dyson V7 repairs in Melbourne
Your V7 has plenty of life left. Short runtime, weak suction or a stuck brush bar are usually simple, affordable fixes.
Repair or replace?
Three quick questions. We’ll give you a straight answer.
What usually goes wrong with a V7.
The V7 is now an older machine, so wear shows up in a few predictable places.
Short runtime or won’t charge
Batteries lose capacity with age, and on a V7 that’s the most common reason it stops mid-clean.
Pulsing on and off
A V7 pulses when airflow is blocked. Check the bin, the filter and the wand before blaming the battery.
Losing suction
Usually a dirty or damp filter, a packed cyclone or a blockage. Wash the filter and let it dry for 24 hours.
Brush bar won’t spin
Hair wrapped around the bar can stop it. If it still won’t turn when clean, the head may need repair.

Dyson V7 questions.
Is it worth repairing an old Dyson V7?
Usually, if the motor runs well. Most V7 faults come down to the battery, the filter, a blockage or the cleaner head, which cost far less to fix than a new vacuum. We’ll tell you what it needs before any parts are fitted.
What’s the difference between the Dyson V7 and V8?
They look alike. The V8 has a bigger battery, rated at up to 40 minutes against the V7’s 30. If your V7 is otherwise running well, a service and a battery check is often all it needs.
Why does my V7 stop after a few minutes?
Usually a worn battery. A blockage can also make it pulse and cut out. Try the runtime check to see which is more likely.
Is a replacement battery included in the $95 service?
No. The $95 service covers servicing the machine. Replacement parts such as batteries are quoted separately, before fitting.
Can you collect my V7?
Yes. Pickup and return is $30 within about 15 km of the Melbourne CBD, or $125 together with the service. Check your suburb.
