Dyson V12 repairs in Melbourne
Most Dyson V12 faults, like pulsing, short runtime or a head that won’t spin, come down to a blocked airway, a dirty filter or a worn battery. Dusti services and repairs V12s for $95, or $125 with pickup and return, and quotes any parts before fitting.
What usually goes wrong with a V12.
Check these at home first. If the fault is still there, book a service.
Pulsing or cutting out
Dyson lists three causes: a blockage, a dirty filter or a dirty cyclone. Take it apart, check every part of the airway, wash the filter and wipe the cyclone with a microfibre cloth.
Short runtime
Dyson rates each click-in battery at up to 60 minutes, in Eco mode on hard floors. Boost and the motorised head drain it much faster, and batteries lose capacity with age.
Head not spinning
Usually hair wrapped around the brush bar or a blocked head inlet. If the head still won’t turn once it’s clean, the head or its contacts may need repair. See Dyson head not spinning.
Weak suction or a filter warning
The V12 screen reminds you to clean the filter. Dyson says to wash it monthly in warm running water with no detergent, then let it dry for at least 24 hours.
Good as new, they say.

Dyson V12 questions.
Is it worth fixing my V12 or should I buy a new one?
Compare the numbers. Dyson Australia lists the V12 Detect Slim Absolute at $1,349 (October 2026). A Dusti service is $95, and any parts are quoted before we fit them, so you can decide with the full cost in front of you.
Why does my Dyson V12 keep pulsing?
Dyson lists a blockage, a dirty filter or a dirty cyclone. Empty the bin, check the wand and head inlet, wash the filter and wipe the cyclone. Still pulsing? See what else causes it or book a service.
How long should a V12 battery last?
Dyson rates each click-in battery at up to 60 minutes in Eco mode on hard floors. Boost and the motorised head use far more power. If yours runs much shorter than it used to, the battery may be worn. See Dyson battery replacement.
Can I swap the V12 battery myself?
Yes. Dyson designed the V12 battery to click out without screws. If a new battery doesn’t fix it, the fault is elsewhere, and a service will find it.
How do I wash the V12 filter?
Dyson says to wash it once a month under warm running tap water with no detergent, and never in a dishwasher or washing machine. Let it dry for at least 24 hours before you refit it.
Is a new battery included in the $95 service?
No. The $95 covers servicing the machine. Parts such as batteries are quoted separately, before fitting.
Can you collect my V12, or can I post it?
Both. Pickup and return is $30 within about 15 km of the Melbourne CBD, or $125 with the service. Outside Melbourne, post it to us from anywhere in Australia.
