Dyson V11 losing suction? Let’s get it back.

On a V11, weak suction is usually a clogged filter, a packed cyclone or a blockage, and the screen will often tell you so. Work through these checks first.

Tap a part

Why a V11 loses suction.

Most likely first. Tap a part on the drawing to jump to it.

A dirty or damp filter

The V11’s filter sits at the back of the machine. Clogged or still damp, it chokes the airflow.

Check: Rinse the filter in cold water, with no detergent, and let it dry for at least 24 hours.

A blockage the screen is warning about

When airflow is restricted, the V11 shows a blockage warning on its screen. Hair and fluff collect at the head neck, the wand and the bin inlet.

Check: Take the wand off and look through it, then check the head neck and the bin inlet.

A packed cyclone or bin

Fine dust coats the mesh shroud inside the bin and slows the airflow, even when the bin looks empty.

Check: Empty the bin and wipe the mesh shroud with a dry cloth or brush.

Worn seals or a motor fault

If it’s clean and clear and still weak, a worn seal, a cracked part or a motor fault is letting air in or reducing power.

Check: Nothing more at home. We test it and quote any parts before fitting.

Try this at home first.

Switch it off and take the battery off, or unplug the charger, before you open anything up.

Dyson V11 suction questions.

Why is my Dyson V11 not suctioning properly?

Most often it’s a dirty filter, a packed cyclone or a blockage in the wand or head. Clean the filter and clear the airflow path first.

Why does my V11 show a blockage warning when nothing is blocked?

Check the filter and the mesh shroud, which can restrict airflow without an obvious blockage. If the warning stays on after that, book a service.

How often should I wash my V11 filter?

Dyson recommends at least once a month. Let it dry fully, for at least 24 hours, before you refit it.

Do you repair Dyson V11s?

Yes. Our $95 service includes a full clean and finding the fault, and we quote any parts before fitting.
